What the NMMO process actually does
Lyocell is a way of making fiber: pulp is dissolved in NMMO, a non-toxic solvent, and spun directly into fiber, and the solvent is captured and reused in a closed loop instead of being discharged. In bamboo lyocell, that pulp is bamboo.

Bamboo lyocell brings together the benefits of bamboo and of lyocell. It keeps the softness, absorbency and dirt pick-up of bamboo, and the lyocell process adds a firmer, crisper sheet that holds its shape, even on large wipes.

The NMMO solvent is non-toxic and is recovered and reused in a closed loop, so it is kinder to the environment, to the people who make it and to the people who use it.
Fast-growing source
Bamboo is a grass, not a tree. Some species grow up to 91 cm a day and regrow from the roots after harvest with little or no fertilizer.

Safe bleaching
Bleached with hydrogen peroxide (TCF, totally chlorine-free): no chlorine or chlorine compounds are used. Hydrogen peroxide whitens by oxidation, so no chlorine gas, chlorine dioxide or hypochlorite is needed at any bleaching step.
- No dioxins or AOX from bleaching. Dioxins and AOX (chlorinated organic compounds) form when chlorine is used to bleach. With no chlorine in the process, our bleaching does not create them.
- Breaks down into water and oxygen. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen, so the bleaching leaves no chlorine-based residue.
That makes hydrogen peroxide TCF the safest bleaching method.
